Level Gauge Glass Tube

What is a Level Gauge Glass Tube?

A Level Gauge Glass Tube is a transparent cylindrical component typically made of durable materials such as borosilicate glass or acrylic, designed to visually indicate liquid levels in tanks and vessels. Widely used in various industries such as chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical, these tubes provide a direct and reliable means of monitoring fluid levels, ensuring efficient and safe operations.

The robust construction of the gauge tubes allows for compatibility with a range of liquids and operating conditions, making them a crucial component for liquid level measurement in diverse industrial settings.

What is the difference between a level gauge and a sight glass?

A level gauge and a sight glass are both instruments used for monitoring fluid levels, but they serve distinct purposes and differ in design. A level gauge is a broader term encompassing various devices employed to measure and display the height of a liquid within a container, utilizing mechanisms like floats, magnetic sensors, or glass tubes. On the other hand, a sight glass specifically refers to a transparent viewing window, often made of materials like glass or acrylic, allowing direct visual observation of fluid levels in a tank or pipeline.

While level gauges provide quantitative measurements, sight glasses offer a qualitative, real-time visual inspection, making them complementary tools for comprehensive fluid level monitoring in industrial applications.

What is Polycarbonate Glass Tubular Sight?

Polycarbonate is a robust thermoplastic that is easy to work with at high temperatures, widely utilized in modern manufacturing for its excellent characteristics and chemical resistance. The name ‘polycarbonate’ is derived from its structure, where polymers are present in functional groups bonded by carbon-based molecular structures.

This product is mainly used in Vision-Type control equipment where safety against breakage from glass may occur. Due to the fact that polycarbonate is approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), it is widely used in food, chemical, and pharmaceutical companies.

A transparent tube is recommended for situations where the fluid is not translucent or when the color in the level is important for the process at hand.
